Never a dull day

When people ask me about my job, my standard response is "It's never boring!" There is often too much to sum up how I feel about it. I love my students, sometimes it takes effort and some days it is easy. Today was easy. Every day starts off well, I have the best advisory ever. I have around 20 students in my advisory but I often have almost double that number of students. I'm only sorry that they are seniors and this is my last year with them. After that, I spent periods one through seven on a field trip--Tennessee Williams' play "Vieux Carre." While not my favorite play of his, it was well acted and I liked the set. The students were phenomenal--the play brought up just about every touchy and difficult subject known to man and they handled it so responsibly. I was so proud to be their teacher.

Yesterday I was less proud. This was the scene outside of my school yesterday. All those white cars, yep, police, 18 in total plus 2 ambulances. We had a "free-for-all" as the kids would say.

Today at my school

I'm currently driving all of the boys crazy because I gave Keyshia a T-shirt. One of the girls was annoyed that I didn't have the decency to make it name brand so she added the "Roca Wear" label. One student was thrilled to have seen the original "hands only" image while traveling to school the other morning. He tried to show the students in my class--but was thwarted by the glue and tape I used to attach the shirt:)
Then we tried to do some research for a senior project. Problem is, we needed to look up a politician whose last name begins with R. But as you can see, my encyclopedia set is a few short. So much for trying not to use Wikipedia and show the difference between official published information and people's opinions on the internet.
